Overview

Many industrial separation processes share similar operational challenges, making efficient centrifugal technology essential for achieving high productivity and product quality. To meet the demanding requirements of the palm oil industry, HAUS developed the IBA Purifier Separator, a high-performance centrifugal separator specifically designed for crude palm oil purification.

The HAUS IBA series is engineered to remove water, solid particles, and other impurities from crude palm oil while minimising product losses and preserving its natural beneficial properties. Designed for gentle product handling, the separator ensures high oil purity and cleaning efficiency throughout the purification process. With its advanced automation capabilities and robust construction, the IBA Purifier Separator is well suited for large-capacity continuous operation, even in demanding and remote processing environments.

The HAUS IBA Purifier Separator is designed to purify a primary liquid by separating mixed liquids of different densities and removing fine solid particles. At the heart of the separator is a bowl that rotates at high speed around a vertical axis. Inside the bowl is a stack of closely spaced conical discs, which provide a large effective settling surface and significantly enhance separation efficiency.

During operation, the feed enters the rotating bowl, where centrifugal force separates the components according to their densities. The lighter liquid moves toward the centre of the bowl and is discharged through the light-phase paring disc, while the heavier liquid is discharged from the outer region through the heavy-phase outlet. The liquid distribution within the bowl can be adjusted using the counter-pressure valve to optimise separation performance.

The heaviest solid particles are forced to the bowl periphery, where they accumulate in the sludge space. These solids are periodically removed through an automatic discharge system. During a partial discharge, only the accumulated sludge is expelled, allowing continuous operation with minimal product loss. During a total discharge, the entire bowl contents are emptied. The discharge sequence, including the timing and frequency of partial and total discharges, is controlled by the programmable logic controller (PLC), which can be configured to suit different operating conditions
